Karnataka approves Centre for Applied AI (CATS) at Keonics facility in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout
The Karnataka government has cleared the creation of a Centre for Applied AI for Tech Solutions (CATS) at Keonics in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, aimed at accelerating applied AI adoption, Industry 4.0 use-cases and startup/industry collaboration with a multi-stakeholder funding model.

Karnataka has approved a new Centre for Applied AI for Tech Solutions (CATS) at the Keonics facility in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, intended to drive applied AI, Industry 4.0 innovation and digital transformation for industry and startups.
What the centre plans to do
- Support applied AI and deep-tech development with industry-aligned solutions.
- Work on areas such as AI, robotics, automation and supply-chain optimisation.
- Provide a platform for startups and industry to build prototypes and market-ready innovations.
Funding and accountability
The initiative is planned in partnership with Nasscom, with funding over four years and outcomes expected to be tracked via KPIs such as startups incubated, prototypes built, IP filed and workforce skilling targets.
