Mumbai confirmed their place in the Ranji Trophy knockouts with a bonus-point victory over Hyderabad, winning by nine wickets in their Group D match in Hyderabad. The result further strengthened Mumbai’s position at the top of the group table with one league match still to play.
Hyderabad began the decisive morning at 166/7 in their second innings but were dismissed for 302 in 69.5 overs, allowing Mumbai to set up a minimal chase. Left-arm spinner Musheer Khan led the bowling effort with figures of 5/49, cleaning up the tail and completing a pivotal five-wicket haul.
Quick finish with the bat
With only 10 runs required, Mumbai wasted little time, reaching the target in 3.2 overs while losing just one wicket. The outright win came after Mumbai had posted a massive first-innings score of 561/6 declared, then dismissed Hyderabad for 282 and enforced the follow-on.
