According to reports, the threat was linked to messaging and planning allegedly referred to as “26-26”, prompting agencies to raise readiness levels and widen surveillance.

Officials strengthened checks at major transit points and entry–exit routes, increased on-ground deployments and expanded threat monitoring. Such steps form part of the Republic Day security protocol each year, but fresh intelligence inputs can push preparations to a higher tempo.

Authorities also referenced risks linked to multiple networks, with concerns that different extremist groups and criminal elements could collaborate, making the threat harder to detect early.
